Joan Malkerson lives and works in Carrizozo, New Mexico and Minnesota. Her art making is exploratory in nature and combines myriad elements including painting, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Colorado College as well as Teacher Certification, and a BFA cum laude from The Maine College of Art and Design. Her artworks have been shown in numerous exhibitions throughout the U.S. including shows in New Mexico, Minnesota, Alaska, Maine, and Wisconsin. Joan’s works are held in corporate and private collections in these States and more.

Joan is CoFounder of Carrizozo Artist-in-Residence, an inceptive Board Member of Limina Arts Foundation, and she currently owns and curates the J. Malkerson Gallery 408 on Twelfth Street in Carrizozo, New Mexico.
